It has begun

The deployment.  Only a few days in to a very long year.  It started off with a bang.  Joanna contracted lice at school, so Easter weekend was spent treating her hair and washing everything!  I can not believe how much laundry I had to do.  And combing her extremely thick hair with a lice comb everyday is a workout in itself.

Josh is having tummy trouble again. This is a common occurrence for him but it doesn't make it any easier.  It seems to happen with every growth spurt and any new teeth coming in.  He has a fever spot on his cheek, which is why I am thinking teeth this time.  I wonder if his molars are bothering him.

I managed to make it through extreme weather with my windshield intact here, but then Sunday some jerk threw up a rock and cracked it.  One more thing added to the ever growing "to do/fix" list.

Honestly, Jason being gone didn't really start to hit me until last night.  I guess I've been so distracted by other things, I didn't have time to deal with my own feelings.  I went to bed about 10:30 and had a terrible time going to sleep.  No big deal, lack of sleep has been a HUGE problem for me for over 2 years now.  However, my fear of the dark has not been so bad, at least for now.  The sun rises at 5:30am and doesn't set until 10pm, 10:02 to be exact for yesterday.  But even after sunset, it never really gets dark.  I could still see everything in my yard with no lights on at midnight.  It's freaky, but great.  No nightlight for now.

At some point I fell asleep, only to wake up suddenly in total fear about 1:30am.  It was one of those eye popping, shoot straight up out of bed with your heart pounding kind of wake ups.  Took a while to calm myself down before I could turn the light back off and lay back down.  Needless to say I did not get much more sleep after that.

I want to be a Zombie Killer

Josh has been taking care of me this morning since I do not feel well.  I woke up with a headache and just feel drained. He informed me I needed to drink some hot chocolate, cause that makes people feel better and maybe play some angry birds.  He also brought me my book.

Then he told me all about how is going to be a shooting cowboy when he gets to be daddy's age.  He's going to shoot zombies with his small gun and big gun and gonna ride a horse and save people.  I wanted to hear more, but Thomas the Train came on and that was the end of his attention.

Ramblings from a crazy mind

  • Who the heck thinks tasering a 900lb moose is a good idea.  Apparently a lot since they had to pass a proposal to stop it.
  • Crap!  We have swing out windows so a window air conditioner is not going to work this summer.
  • I'm contemplating a new tattoo.
  • Wonders if it is strange that my dreams continue the story line of the books I read.  Wonders if I should worry I dreamed about Vishous, of all people, from BDB.
  • Would kill for a raspberry margarita from Long Horns.
  • Hates crying.  Really, really loathes it.  Leaves me drained and blotchy and with a headache.
  • Is still really angry at the government/budget fiasco.  They put the military on the same level as US Parks! But everyone will move on and forget all the hoopla and they will get away with it again.  Thinks we really need to limit terms of Congress.
  • Angry Birds is keeping me from getting anything productive done.
  • Really prefers my fantasy world created by my imagination and love of reading.  Will be escaping there often during this deployment.  Hopefully I come back out.

DAMMET Award: Dumb Parents

It's that time again for a new installment of the DAMMET awards.  (DAMMET=dumbass makes my eye twitch).

Since I have not met many people here in AK, I chat on messages boards a lot.  I am a member of a mom's board and every so often there will be a post that really makes me question who should be allowed to be parents and who should not.

Here is the breakdown of today's post:
  • Mom goes out of town with boyfriend for the weekend
  • leaves 14yr son and 15yr old daughter with 28yr old aunt
  • son and daughter lie to aunt and say they are going swimming at friend's house
  • son and daughter walk to their own house with friends and steal their mom's car and go joyriding
  • aunt finds out and calls niece on cell phone, niece lies and says they are at friend's house
  • aunt goes to house and sits in driveway to wait for their return and catches them redhanded
  • aunt grounds them for the rest of the weekend
  • nephew gets really disrespectful, so aunt makes him stay in the basement (it is unfinished, but there is a bed and he is allowed to come up for the bathroom and meals) where he has no access to tv, computer, phone or video games until mom comes to get him the next morning.
The mom is furious with her sister and says her sister over reacted and the punishment was too harsh.  She wants the aunt to apologize to her son for being so mean to him!

Um.....HELLO!!!!! Your horrible children STOLE you car, took it for a joyride with no license and endangered themselves and everyone on the road.  What if they had crashed and killed someone?!  Then your son got mouthy with his aunt, who was responsible for him while you were off doing who knows what with your boy toy for the weekend!  Your are lucky they were not arrested!!  In fact, had I been the aunt, I would have called the cops!  I bet if your kids were hurt while they were acting like juvenile delinquents, you would hold your sister responsible.  Here's a thought, why don't you quit spending all your time with your boyfriend and spend more time teaching your kids about acceptable behavior!

Blind King=Good Smut

One of my favorite authors, J.R. Ward, came out with a new installment of what I believe is one of the best vampire series ever, The Black Dagger Brotherhood.  So, in honor of the new book, I am reading all the previous before diving into the new one.  I read the first one, Dark Lover, yesterday.  Swoon!  Who knew a blind vampire king could be so hot.  Even though I knew exactly what was going to happen, I still thoroughly enjoyed the book. Today I start Lover Eternal.  I am dying to get to my favorite story, the third book Lover Awakened.

I think the reason I love this series so much is because they are not your typical vampires or your typical romance.  This is a darker series and the characters have a lot bad things to deal with, and not just from their past.  I like how the author keeps the conversations real.  These are rough guys and they are going to talk to each other a certain way, which is going to include insults and profanity.  I also enjoy how each book focuses on a certain brother, but all the others are still included in the story and you continue to get info on how and what they are doing.

And for those who know what the heck I am talking about:  TEAM QHUAY!!!!!!!!!!!
